Miss Lack Of Understanding

Miss ‘Lack of understanding’
Sat at her desk
Unaware
Of what things are blest

She drank her coffee
Then fretted and fussed
‘I have to achieve
This is a must’

She reached for her lighter
And lit another smoke
Her staff they jumped
When she spoke

She hadn’t the time
To just be, and be still
So much to do
No time for goodwill..

…One day a stranger
Visited her place
And at once
He was in disgrace

She looked at him sideways
And said in her rude way
Sit still, be quiet
Just do as I say.

He obeyed her orders
For seven whole days
Worked conscientiously
For his weekly pay

But then tragedy
Hit that place
The stranger and her
Came face to face

By this time the stranger
Had had his fill
With an attitude like this
One could become ill

He waited his time
For the next ‘put down’
They came thick and fast
And the staff did frown…

..What eventuated
Is history now
But all I know
Is that by God’s power
People and places
Are but stepping stones
To richer lives
So let’s never moan
For the new Miss understanding
Will not be the same
Now she’s aware
That all are not lame
But some will stand
For what is right
Because they’ve experienced
The souls dark night

And now they stand
Meek but complete
Not controlled but free
At their masters feet

Knowing that
The attitude that wins
Is the one that’s cleansed
From all blinding sin.
