A Beautiful Enclosed Garden

A beautiful enclosed garden
Made especially for me
I am your creation
I walk here in security

Turmoil all around me
Earthquakes, fires, famines and wars
Within our enclosed garden
I abide by your Divine Order and laws

Surrounding our garden
Is a white picket fence
The gateways are locked
And the surrounding foliage is quite dense

As I rest in our summer house
I am at peace yet excited
We allow no one to enter here
Absolutely no one is invited

…This garden was formed
Just for me
Here loves relationship
Shares secret intimacies

There is a plaque on the gate
Stating ‘Elizabeth’s refuge
May she be meek, humble and teachable
Even when her responsibilities are huge.

Outside this garden
Is pain extreme
Bewilderment, unrest
And devastating broken dreams

Frustration anger
Wilderness trails
Until we make this decision
To love you first and set sail
On a new journey
Seeking your enlightenment
Then we discover
Your daily replenishment

In our enclosed garden
Every bird sings
Joyous melodies
To our creator and King

The stones in the stream bed
Glisten as pure gold
Everything here is beautiful
And daily more delights unfold

Our enclosed garden
Is based on mutual love and trust
When I wandered outside
My clothes were rags covered in dust

Then I made a choice
To sustain a relationship with you
Abide by your principles
In all I say think and do.

Others outside our Garden
Point their fingers sadly
But it matters little
That they can’t discern me?

The years have taught me
To keep peeling back
Until we understand the root core
As to why human beings still lack

You have placed in my hand
A golden pen
And in my heart
The caring of a ‘Mother hen’

I am content
My soul is at rest
You My Lord first
Yes my love has stood tests

…In our enclosed garden
Are delights evermore
A place of refuge
When the soul becomes worn and sore

May I never ‘point the finger’
But listen hear and comprehend
Validate what’s being shared
And receive thankfully what you send

…It is imperative
That our enclosed garden is secure
So that no evil predator
No matter how loving or demure
Can possibly enter
This garden of ours
Formed by a vow and commitment
And tested when circumstances were sour

You and I walk this garden
My beloved spouse
I gave you the key
To every room in my house

That you may refurbish it
Fit for a King
I accept from your hand
All that you bring…

…On our garden seat
We commune without words
My heart is still
Unspoken thoughts are heard

…It is your prerogative
To bring the right mate
Through the gate of commitment
When we have reached the required state…

I in you
And you in me
This mystical union
As expressed in John 17 beautifully.
