A Stupid Chook......

A stupid chook
Sneaked under the fence
The barnyard rooster
Took offence

The other hens
Told her of her fate
If she ventured next door
To spend time with her mate

.......she had suffered
Many years before
When another hen
Broke The Barnyard Law

Now they shared everything
Like a pigeon pair
With his constant companion
Was this 'dumb cluck' aware

........One day it happened
As predicted
He became violently angry
She was abused and evicted

"Never come here
He screeched and crowed
You are no longer welcome"
His 'wonky side' was exposed

Get out NOW he crowed
In a temper tantrum
While his constant companion
Loudly beat her own drum

........What a "dumb cluck"
The other hens expressed
Have not we told you
He has made another nest

.....A younger rooster
Thought he would make things right
So he lectured her
Through the next dark night

He told her precisely
What she had done wrong
That she was mad
She understood his song

.......The barnyard hens
Knew her passion
She was a mother of many
Who showed great compassion

.......If a rooster
Becomes stubborn and cruel
Beats his own drum
Forgets the barnyard rule

Only a "Dumb Cluck"
Will crawl under his fence
And suffer the cruel
Consequence

.......The young rooster was encouraged
By the barnyard chooks
By their loving example
Slowly 'taking sides' he forsook
