The young owls begged
Manu wrote this allegory
On The Kauri Tree it’s pegged

***A frustrated farmer
Said to Mother hen
Why are you sitting
On dud eggs again?

He searched the neighbourhood
For eggs that were fresh
Removed the old ones
Then placed new ones in her nest

.....Upon these she sat
Until they did hatch
Three chicks emerged
But the fourth did not match

She loved all her chicks
With unconditional love
Totally oblivious
One could be A dove

...Some hens in the barnyard
Were cruel and unkind
”That chick is odd”, they said
Mother hen must be blind

So the different chick
Did her very best
To be kind and considerate
But she could not rest

Profoundly sad
She would shed silent tears
As she longed to be accepted
By her peers

The farmer knew
Of her plight
When she had matured
Then on a dark night
He opened the enclosure
So she could escape
To a ‘place of rest’
Somewhere that was safe

...On ‘The Path of Discovery’
Alone she did walk
Her wounds were healed
With her Maker she did talk.

Was she a rare species?
Why could she not fly?
Upon ‘The Mountain of Learning’
She often asked why

...She perched on a ledge
And realized she could see
Far beyond in the distance
Ever so precisely

She flapped her wings
Until they became strong
For hours she would ponder
“Just where do I belong”

.....High in the sky
Effortlessly
A bird soared on the wind currents
Majestically

Oh the joy
When He landed by her side
A taste of The Eternal
Her relief she couldn’t hide

.....Now she’s accepted and respected
By an amazing family
Cherished and loved
Unconditionally

Ephesians Chapter 4 verse 11 to 13

‘Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church;
The apostles, the prophets,
the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers.
Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do His work
and build up the church, the body of Christ.....
...that we will be mature.......’
