Miss 'Lack Of Understanding'

Miss ‘Lack of understanding’
Sat at her desk
Unaware
Of what things are blest

She drank her coffee
Then fretted and fussed
‘I have to achieve’, she stated
This is a must’

She reached for her lighter
And lit another smoke
Her staff jumped to attention
When she spoke

She hadn’t the time
To just be, and be still
So much to do, she thought
No time for goodwill..

…One day a stranger
Visited her place
Immediately
He was in disgrace

She looked at him sideways
And said in her rude way
Sit still, be quiet
Just do as I say.

He obeyed her orders
For seven whole days
Worked conscientiously
For his weekly pay

But then tragedy
Hit that place
The stranger and her
Then came face to face

By this time the stranger
Had had his fill
An attitude like this, he thought
Would make anyone ill

He waited for a time
For the next ‘put down’
They came thick and fast
Even the staff did frown…

…What eventuated
Is history now
But all I know
Is that by God’s grace and power
Our life’s experiences
Are but stepping stones
To richer lives
So let’s never moan

…The new Miss understanding
Will not be the same
Now she’s become aware
That all are not lame
But some will stand
For what is right
Because they’ve experienced
The souls dark night

Now they stand
Meek and complete
Enlightened and free
Seated at their Masters feet
Knowing this reality
That the attitude that wins
Is the one that’s been cleansed
From all blinding sin.
