Knock Knock KnockKnock knock knock
As she tapped on Manu’s door
Her inner heart was hurting
As she was wounded and sore
Tap tap tap
Is anybody home
She had chosen to think positively
As it’s unproductive to moan
But she was now in a position
That appeared incongruous and unjust
She just needed to be listened to
By someone she did trust
…She was welcomed inside
By Manu’s faithful old maid
The table was set
The house was tidy and the bed’s made
One look at Manu
And she broke down and wailed
‘Over calm waters
For a long time I sailed
But now I’m so busy
That I rush here and there
And I’m suffering an injustice
Manu’, that’s why I’m here’
…He listened intently
And nodded his head
She continued to speak
And this is what she said
‘My mother says one thing
My Father states another
My husband is reassuring
And I listen to my sister and brother
As I listen to everyone
And hear their own point of view
Which can be different and confusing
I now don’t know what to do.
My Mother loves our three children
And she works consistently
Yet my Father states clearly
That we all need rest frequently
Oh so confusing
Where is the communication breakdown?
I’ve stated my case clearly
My God doesn’t want me to frown’
…She continued to talk
For most of that night
As her perfectionist nature
Yearned to have things ‘just right’
Stress and frustration
Were her daily bread
‘I will face the real issues
And discern wisely all that’s been said’
…Manu Morepork
Bowed his head in prayer
His whole body language
Was saying that he really did care
‘I carry a great weight’
She continued to say
I will lay everything down
And let it go this very day’
He lifted his head
And smiled so lovingly
‘Well done my daughter’
He said, comfortingly
You were made with a temperament
That’s super sensitive yet astute
And you know in your heart
The reality of this sadness root
‘Father forgive them
For they know not what they do
Face this reality
And move on with what’s true
Why allow others attitude’s
To hold you down
Embrace life my daughter
Never allow another to spin your around
Form your own identity
Take responsibility for your own life
Cherish your husband
Be that stable mature loving wife
And one day your grand-children
Will sit on your knee
And you’ll know that pleasure
And fulfilment totally.
…Manu’s eyes drooped
It was time for his rest
With every word he spoke
Her heart was blessed…
..She walked very slowly
Along the bush trails
Thinking to herself
‘We learn so much when we fail’
…All of a sudden beside her
Was her first born child
As she looked up at her
She lovingly smiled
‘Father is waiting
Where have you been?
The table is prepared
The home is all clean
My sister and I
Have made you a treat
Come come Mother
Come and eat’.
