A Butterfly Went Flitting ByTHE BUTTERFLY
A butterfly went flitting by
A man with a net gave a sigh
That butterfly would top his collection
That’s saying a lot for he had quite a selection
After giving it
A lot of thought
While the butterfly
Could still be caught
He decided against
Casting his net
So that her wings
Could be set
Between pins on a board
She would be seen
But this beautiful creature
Would be unable to preen
Its wings to the sun
And the breeze above
Unable to inspire
The greatest love
Love inspired by the freedom of God’s species
To live out its life wherever it pleases
Where coming across such a beautiful sight
So unexpected, brings much delight
Ownership on the other hand
Takes something that was so grand
And in the act of owning that thing
Robs others of the joy that it could bring
