Elizabeth’s Mentor
Suffered a severe stroke
After six months in hospital
These words to her he spoke

‘I had a dream
About writing a book’
At his paralysed right side
She took a long hard look

Could this be possible?
As he couldn’t write or clearly speak
‘Give me the theme’, she suggested
And a little was typed each week

…When the housework was done
This dictation time became therapy
What was typed he edited
Methodically

As the weeks progressed
His speech became clearer
And when the end of the story
He’d been given became nearer
He with determination
Walked 10 steps all alone
Even an eighty-five year old stroke victim
Can re-learn I was being shown

…Here is his story
Containing many insights
Seven chapters plus an ending
May it inspire hope and cause delight.

Keep us faithful
Ever true
Made in your image
So may we do
Through the hours
And through the years
If with joy
Or many tears
Walking ever
In the light
Against the wrong
And for the right
We would ever
Humble be
Trusting when
We cannot see
Until at last
We see your face
And win a crown
Given by your grace
