…He placed a small cross
On this earths highest place
He knew sorrow and heartache
In his hearts private place

With composed determination
Each new challenge he’d face
A true humanitarian
Loved by all in that ‘far off place’

…Upon the New Zealand banknote
His picture reminds us daily
Of a real, honest, humble man
Who displayed calm dignity.
