Dear Nephew, Naughty Monk
My heart is dismayed!
Upon the handwriting in My Diary
Sadly stress is displayed

......Three pens I have tried
Blue, red then black
Oh how I long deeply
For my GOLDEN PEN to come back!

With a grieving heart
I looked EVERYWHERE!
Am I old and forgetful?
Is the ageing process, unfair?

.....In quiet acceptance
I got on with the day
Consoling myself
"It cannot be far away"

.......Three hours later
I continued my search
This pen I take EVERYWHERE
Even to church!

'I will buy another'
A consoling thought
How can I tell my beloved nephew
That another PEN, I've bought?

.....Yes stripped my bed
Searched downstairs
On my old knees
I faced my greatest fears

Where is it hiding?
Then her Papillon began to bark
While I was groping
Under the bed, in the dark

What is the matter?
Is there someone at the door
So I heaved this old body
Up off the floor

One more look
Before I opened the door
When THE GOLDEN PEN!!!!!!
Subtly Camouflaged, I saw

........Where are you Elizabeth
A voice called up the stairs
"Under the bed, I replied"
Now close to tears

She looked at me sideways
FOUND IT, I replied
Been searching all morning
But can't reach it, I sighed

........To "The kind Naughty monk"
As you work with your digger
Dream of your New section
May our VISION become BIGGER

We will join together
At this time in history
Cherishing THE PARKER PEN
You selflessly gave to me

........Silver and gold
We may not possess
But what we do have
Brings PEACE and REST

Together we STAND
UNITED we will NOT FALL
With A GOLDEN Pen in our hands
A devoted soul will STAND TALL

........I will treasure your gift
Until until the day I die
May it bring comfort
To many who suffer and cry
