My sister, my companion
My friend and my mate

…….From the day of her birth
Our mothers precious treasure
The joy and comfort she bought
No one could measure

Had told our mother
Her paralysis was not fine

“I have planned this baby”
I heard my Mother say
She cherished her new daughter
In a very special way

Knew not of her history
Was unaware of her challenges

……From the time of Ethne’s birth
Our Mother never walked again
She nurtured us beautifully
Her example to us was plain

She guided us beautifully
Taught me to cook
Shared many life experiences
Read to us many books

She reassured me
That to Heaven she would go
One day we would be together
I knew this would be so

…..My beloved sister
A blessing to so many souls
Her gift of insight
The way she fulfils her goals

As Mother to many
Her listening skills
Her amazing cooking ability
Countless roles she fulfils

Loved by many
A Mother duck
Keeping the family united
Sharing both “good and bad luck”

……Our Mother’s example
Is with us to this day
LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
