Earliest SISTER Memories

My earliest memories
Of what later became
“An excellent woman cook”
Yes, “Top of her game”

Roast Lamb. Mint sauce
Crisp roast potato. Pumpkin
Delicious gravy. Fresh vegetables
When did her cooking skills begin?

How did she become
This amazing cook
Let’s turn the clock back
For a peep. A wee look.

…….Instead of marrying a farmer
She married a farm
As she faced ongoing challenges
To remain relaxed and calm

She began collecting
Many recipe books
All beautifully displayed
Many years this took

At 20 years of age
As Newlyweds
They painted a shack with a wobbly floor
Added NEW Stove and comfy bed

0n their adventure together
And never looked back
Their toilet was a “long drop”
They felt no sense of lack

At her young age
In their oven, sparkling NEW
Amazing meals were achieved
And hospitality too

………my first memories
Go way back to Bothwell farm
Her mother had Multiple Thirosis
Which filled doctors with alarm

“We have planned this baby”
I heard her express emphatically
I want and will keep this child
And she did amazingly

The day she came home from the hospital
Her mobility vanished
She never walked again
For six years her babe, she cherished

…….when I stay at their farm
In these latter years
What I observe
Melts away fears or cares

Happy stable grandchildren
Constant visitors galore
Awesome meals
An open NEW farmhouse door

Two flash toilets
With self closing lids
No longer a “long drop”
Classic paintings. No fibs!!!

……As I express
What this babe has become
With no supportive mother
Amazing achievements she has done

…….She and I always will be
The very best of mates
My youngest sister
Who places “prime goodies upon many plates

Her banana cake and shortbread
Are absolute perfection
And her savoury muffins!
Often inspires a NEW DIRECTION

…..As we relax in their Media room
At the end of the day
Enjoying superb goodies
A grateful prayer, I say
