Ollie Was Wed

Ollie was wed
To very sick owl
Who often said ‘No’
Spoke negatives and did growl

She became frustrated
Angry and sad
To her fullest potential
She desired to grow when all seemed so bad

Often before thinking
‘No’ he would state
And that was his final word
That ‘brick wall’ Ollie did hate

‘No’ this can’t be done
‘No’ that is not right
Her self esteem was diminishing
Who was aware of her plight

She tried to communicate
How she thought and felt
Who would listen to her dilemma
Before her personality would melt

…Many sad years
She wasted this way
Many tears she shed
When to her Creator she did pray

Almost every suggestion
That she now timidly did speak
He responded to with a negative
So a brand new life she did seek

How could she communicate
What she had discerned
Fanaticism brings imbalance
And respect is earned

…Manu’s example
Was to listen and not interrupt
Speak positives, not judge
With him Ollie never did erupt

‘Oh Manu, she cried
What do you see?
On a negative foundation
Was his life formed badly?

I know he is intelligent
Loving and kind
Compassionate and caring
But to a healthy relationship, still is blind’?

…She continued to speak
‘I fear this owl
As this attitude is destructive
And I’m now to weak to even howl’

She was no longer included
In a healthy way
In his daily activities
Oh Manu, what do you say?

…‘Be patient and prayerful
You have discerned aright
Has he put you in a corner
Out of mind out of sight?

Rejection and control
In a child’s first seven years
Forms a shaky foundation
That becomes a catalyst for future tears.


…Be firm kind and patient
And eventually
He will copy your role modelling
And not reject you rudely.

…Unconditional love
Will eventually win
Respond with positives
Which will stop the negatives coming in.

…No more rejection
No more pain!
No more no’s
To respond positively is Ollie’s aim

No more judging
No more ‘put downs’
No more disharmony
No more frowns

Wise choices, wise responses
Listen, be calm
Bring comfort, bring understanding
Apply loves healing balm

…Ollie chose to be strong
And now walks the higher route
Keeping her attitude positive
And is no longer mute.
